Melee Weapons
Melee Weapons encompass all close combat weapons in Remixed Dungeon that are used to attack adjacent enemies. This category includes swords, maces, axes, and other close-range armaments.
Overview
Melee weapons are the primary combat tools for most hero classes, especially Warriors, Gladiators, and other melee-focused subclasses. They offer various trade-offs between damage, speed, and special effects.
Weapon Categories
- Maces: Mace, War Hammer
- Blunt: Quarterstaff, Knuckles
Combat Mechanics
- Range: All melee weapons attack adjacent tiles only
- Damage Formula: Based on weapon tier, upgrades, and hero strength
- Speed: Each weapon has a delay factor affecting attack speed
- Accuracy: Affects the chance to successfully hit an opponent
Tier System
Melee weapons are organized by tier, which affects base stats and strength requirements:
- Tier 1: Knuckles, Sai (lowest damage, lowest STR requirement)
- Tier 2: Dagger, Staff, Mages Staff
- Tier 3: Sword, Mace, Short Sword, Hand Axe, Spear, Quarterstaff
- Tier 4: Long Sword, Battle Axe, War Hammer, Glaive
- Tier 5: Great Sword, Gauntlets
- Tier 6: Dwarven Hammer, Great Maul
- Tier 7: Elven Sword (highest damage, highest STR requirement)
Special Properties
Some melee weapons have special properties:
- Two-handed: Some weapons like the Great Sword require two hands to wield
- Versatile: Quarterstaff can be used one-handed or two-handed
- Special Mechanics: Some weapons have unique properties or effects
Strategy
- Choose weapons that match your hero's strength level
- Early game: Lower tier weapons are easier to use due to lower STR requirements
- Late game: Higher tier weapons provide more damage output
- Consider weapon speed vs. damage based on your fighting style
- Pair with appropriate armor for tanking or dual-wielding for DPS
